This is a fun, non-toxic craft activity for children that uses ingredients safe for local wildlife. Avoid using craft glitter, as it can be harmful to birds and other animals; instead, use edible glitter or colored sugar crystals for sparkle.

Ingredients

• 1 cup uncooked rolled oats
• ¼ cup red or green sugar crystals (for sparkle)
• ¼ cup mixed seeds or wild birdseed (optional, adds energy)
• Pinch of cinnamon (for an enticing scent)

Instructions

1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix them together.
2. Package the mixture into the vial for friends or keep it ready for Christmas Eve.
3. Sprinkle on your lawn on Christmas Eve, perhaps while reciting a poem: "Sprinkle this food on the ground tonight, for Santa's reindeer on their magical flight. It's safe for birds and animals too, a special treat just for them and you!"
